I would love to say to you that I my doctorate is from some famous school, born under some famous pastor or some other story, but there is nothing like that to boast about. I'm just another servant.
Over 15 years of professional large conference and small group speaking to corporate America on distance learning and training has provided interesting preperation to speak on both the work in Africa and the meaning of success in America. One day I am watching my wife in the six time Grammie award winning Brooklyn Tabernacle singing with 4,000 of every race in the planet, the next in a elephant grass church in Zambia. One day do a national webinar to Hospitals across the country on compiance training and the next family relations in the slums of Kitale Kenya. It is an amazing life we can live.
Since I was very young I have always wanted a relationship with God and tried everything. In Junior High I gave myself to Christ one late night on a Billy Graham Crusade TV show and forgot about it. You name it: Famous Yogis, many systems of thought, working for top flight corporations I tried to fill the hole in my heart. Fortunately God did not forget, grabbed me and destroyed everything I had in 2003 to create someone new He could use.
The Lord uses my ministry as a bridge between the wealthy and poor. The poor of Africa is a striking mirror to look into. Not a night goes by I do not miss the laughter of the children when playing football with plastic bags wrapped in string. The amazing love of innocence in a world of struggle and violence.
I speak on: How to transform you life. Mission work. Children Ministry on being grateful. Men and real success. Prayer. All ministry is done with these images except prayer, we can't see through tears very well.
On Success
If we choose the contemporary thinking of "intention" we will always be limited by our flaws and it will tragically be driven by our to do list selfishness. I remember some years back giving a speech in front of the nation's top educators. Someone came up to me said it was simply challenging and brilliant. On reflection I thought to myself I am wasting my time,' because I actually was wasting my time. Now I know that if we choose God's will over our own life becomes this truly surprising and amazing adventure. This is what The Beatitudes book is about.
On Religion
On the relationship side of things with my Lord Jesus, I am a member of the Brooklyn Tabernacle's body of Christ, minister in the Prayer Band and Downtown Learning Center. My wonderful wife Michele sings in the Choir. We have combined six awesome kids. If you come to The Tabernacle please look me up so we can pray together. www.brooklyntabernacle.org
